A major update has surfaced regarding the Mega Alliance meeting in Maharashtra, initially set for today. The meeting has been postponed. According to sources, CM Eknath Shinde is heading to his village in Satara district today and is likely to return tomorrow.
Previously, a marathon meeting lasting about 3 hours was held in Delhi with the three prominent leaders of the Mega Alliance—CM Shinde, BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis, and NCP chief Ajit Pawar, along with Amit Shah. Following the meeting, the leaders returned to Mumbai, planning a significant meeting today among the three leaders to discuss departmental matters.
It's reported that Eknath Shinde's sudden departure to his village in Satara has led to the postponement of today's meeting. Once he returns on Saturday, the meeting will resume to address discussed and pending issues.
Beforehand, late last evening in Delhi, Home Minister Amit Shah engaged in separate discussions with Devendra Fadnavis, Eknath Shinde, and Ajit Pawar at his residence. BJP President JP Nadda, NCP's acting president Praful Patel, and NCP MP Sunil Tatkare also visited Shah’s house. Despite the meeting spanning nearly three hours, a decision on the CM's name wasn't finalized.
After the meeting, Eknath Shinde, Devendra Fadnavis, and Ajit Pawar returned to Mumbai late at night. Interim Chief Minister Eknath Shinde remarked that the meeting went positively and was the first of its kind. During which they also met Shah and JP Nadda. Shinde indicated that the Mega Alliance leaders will convene again in Mumbai to decide on the CM's name.
Earlier, Shinde reiterated that there are no obstacles regarding the CM’s position, emphasizing that the title "Laadla Bhai" holds more significance for him than anything else. In a press conference, he made it clear that there was no conflict within the Mega Alliance concerning the Chief Minister’s position. Shinde stated in the meeting, "This 'Laadla Bhai' has arrived in Delhi, and 'Laadla Bhai' means more to me than any position."
It is notable that the Maharashtra Assembly election results were announced on November 23, granting the Mega Alliance 233 seats. Despite receiving such a massive mandate, the ruling Mahayuti, led by BJP, has yet to finalize their choice for the Chief Minister.
In the 280-member Maharashtra Assembly, BJP emerged as the largest party with 132 seats, while its allies—Shiv Sena led by Eknath Shinde and NCP led by Ajit Pawar—secured 57 and 41 seats, respectively.
