Government Employee Tricked into Marriage: Deputy Collector Accused of Rape

In the heart of Madhya Pradesh, Rajgarh police have filed a case against a deputy collector from Bhopal. A female government employee has accused him of repeatedly raping her under the pretext of marriage. The case emerged following the registration of an FIR on Friday.

The accused deputy collector has been identified as 47-year-old Rajesh Sorte. It is alleged that he engaged in a relationship with the complainant when he was the Tehsildar in Pachor, Rajgarh district in 2022. According to the police officer citing the woman's complaint, the accused sexually harassed the female employee multiple times across various locations since.

Arvind Singh, the Sub-divisional Police Officer of Sarangpur, informed PTI that Pachor police filed a rape case against Sorte under the Indian Penal Code after the alleged crime occurred prior to the enforcement of the amended laws in 2022.

The Sub-divisional Police Officer Arvind Singh added that the complainant supported her claims with a video shared with the police. He mentioned the formation of a special team to apprehend Sorte.

The victimized female employee approached Rajgarh's Superintendent of Police, Aditya Mishra, lodging a complaint against Deputy Collector Rajesh Sorte. Consequently, SP entrusted Inspector Akhilesh Verma of Pachor police station with the case investigation.
