During the ongoing Shiva Mahapuran event by the famous storyteller Pradeep Mishra in Varanasi, a gang of female thieves was exposed. The police arrested 15 women from this gang. Two gold chains and nine mangalsutras worth approximately 1 million rupees were recovered from them. The detained women hail from various districts of Purvanchal and Bihar.

In Varanasi's Domari area, storyteller Pradeep Mishra has been narrating the Shiva Mahapuran over recent days. A large number of devotees were gathering to listen to the tales. During this time, incidents of women’s chains and mangalsutras being stolen increased. The police began probing these incidents, taking them seriously.

During the investigation, one woman from the gang was caught, leading to the arrest of 14 more women. The police revealed that these women excel in taking advantage of the crowds at the event to snatch jewelry from necks.

The police recovered jewelry worth 1 million rupees from the gang. Varanasi's ACP Kotwali Ishaan Soni stated that the caught women come from various districts of Purvanchal and Bihar. They were involved in thefts at large gatherings and religious sites.

After the arrests, security measures at the event venue have been tightened. The police urge the devotees to remain vigilant and ensure the safety of their jewelry.
