'Freedom from Illegal Immigrants: Manipur's Challenge'

In a letter to Governor Ajay Bhalla, Biren Singh highlighted the severe issue of illegal immigrants in Manipur, urging the continuation of directives issued by the central government and the Ministry of Home Affairs for identifying and deporting immigrants from Bangladesh and Myanmar within 30 days.

Former Chief Minister of Manipur, Nongthombam Biren Singh, has penned a letter to the governor seeking the acceleration and continuation of the process to identify and deport illegal immigrants from Bangladesh and Myanmar. He lauded the Ministry of Home Affairs for their swift guidelines issued to achieve this within 30 days and presented the governor with documents related to illegal immigrants identified in 2021. Meanwhile, the Director General of Police has reduced security for Biren Singh.

Biren Singh articulated that the presence of such immigrants poses a serious issue for Manipur. He called for adherence to the central and Home Ministry's guidelines, which stipulate clear instructions for identifying and deporting Bangladesh and Myanmar immigrants within a 30-day window.
