In Uttar Pradesh's Bahraich, a disturbing atmosphere prevails following the violence during the Durga idol immersion. With tensions running high, internet services in Bahraich have been suspended. During the Durga Puja procession, members from a specific community allegedly fired shots, leading to the tragic death of Ramgopal Mishra. Placing his body on the road, locals express their outrage by vandalizing shops, showrooms, homes, and hospitals, while fires were set ablaze.
The once peaceful immersion turned chaotic, engulfing Bahraich in turmoil. In response, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath convened a high-level meeting with officials in Lucknow.

Chief Minister Yogi, in the meeting, directed officials to handle the rioters with utmost strictness. He emphasized the urgent arrest of the culprits, underscoring that those spreading rumors about the unrest would face severe actions as well. He gave directives to identify and act firmly against the perpetrators. Despite the violence, he ordered the resumption of the idol immersion program which had been previously halted.
Underlining his serious approach, the STF Chief Amitabh Yash and Home Secretary Sanjeev Gupta were promptly dispatched from Lucknow to the site. A robust security presence, including six companies of PAC, aims to restore order. During the high-tension streets of Bahraich, the STF Chief was seen actively managing the situation, armed with a pistol and managing through his phone.

In the evening of October 13, a Durga idol immersion procession was underway in Maharajganj town, Harti police station area of Mahsi tehsil in Bahraich. The procession passed through neighborhoods of a specific community when violent clashes broke out over DJ music. Amid rising tensions, stones were allegedly thrown from rooftops, escalating to gunfire which tragically ended Ramgopal Mishra’s life.
