In Ayodhya, police have apprehended a crafty fraudster who duped individuals out of millions, masquerading as a fake STF officer. According to the police, the suspect used a counterfeit STF ID to deceive people, promising to refund land registration fees.
This case prompted a formal complaint at the Kotwali area station. The accused, 52-year-old Ajay Kumar Singh, faced serious allegations. Originally from Sultanpur, Ajay resided in Gomti Nagar, Lucknow. He was arrested near the Ranopali Chowki area on February 19th.

The complaint detailed that between December 26 and 29, 2025, the suspect pretended to be an STF officer, using a fake ID card. He assured victims of retrieving their land registration money, ultimately pocketing a total of ₹4,00,000 over different occasions.

Following the complaint, under the directive of the Senior Superintendent of Police, a raid was conducted near the Ranopali Road at Udaseen Ashram to apprehend the suspect. A fake ID card and a Safari car were seized from the suspect's possession.
Investigations revealed that the accused is also implicated in a fraud case at the Tarun police station. Police have initiated legal actions against him under relevant sections, resulting in his judicial custody.
The Ayodhya police made it clear that the ongoing campaign against fraud and forgery will persist. They also urged citizens to verify an official's identity before any financial transactions. The police emphasized that fraud and forgery would not be tolerated.
