United States President Donald Trump has once again taken credit for the ceasefire between India and Pakistan. He claimed to have played a significant role in reducing tensions between the two nations through trade negotiations. However, India had previously dismissed Trump's claims, stating that any issue related to Jammu and Kashmir would be resolved bilaterally between India and Pakistan.

During a meeting with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa at the White House, Trump said, 'If you look at what we have achieved with Pakistan and India, we resolved the entire issue, and I believe I managed that through trade. We are making a major deal with India and Pakistan... You know there was intense shelling between the two nations. We communicated with the leaders of both countries and settled the matter.'

'Prime Minister Modi is my friend...'

He further added that, a couple of days later, something happened, and they blamed it on Trump. 'I hate to say it, but we worked it out. We did something great. But there are really remarkable people and some really good leaders in Pakistan. But India's Prime Minister Modi is my friend... he is a great person.'

Trump claimed that through his mediation, both countries accepted the ceasefire.

India Dismantles Terror Camps

In response to terrorist attacks in Pahalgam, India launched Operation Sindhura. Through a missile operation, India destroyed nine terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. In retaliation, an irate Pakistan engaged in cross-border firing and attempted drone strikes on Indian territory, which were neutralized by the Indian Air Defense System. Following these incidents, tensions between the two countries heightened.

India Dismisses Trump's Claims

Before India announced the ceasefire agreement with Pakistan, US President Donald Trump made a social media post declaring the ceasefire between the two nations, claiming that America played a key role in it.

India had already dismissed Trump's assertions. The Ministry of External Affairs mentioned that since the launch of 'Operation Sindhura' and the ceasefire, there was no mention of the 'trade issue' in discussions between Indian and American leaders.

The Ministry further noted, 'From the start of Operation Sindhura on May 7 until the agreement to cease fire and military action on May 10, talks about evolving military conditions were ongoing between Indian and American leaders. However, there was no mention of trade in any of those discussions.'
