A woman from the Gangoh area in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, has made alarming allegations against her husband's family. She claims that after they failed to receive the demanded dowry, her in-laws injected her with HIV. As a result, her condition has become critical. Based on the victim's complaint, the police have registered a case under IPC Section 307, the Domestic Violence Act, and the Dowry Prohibition Act.

Inspector Rozant Tyagi shared that the victim's father stated his daughter, Sonal, married Abhishek from Haridwar, Uttarakhand, on February 15, 2023. Despite providing a substantial dowry consisting of cash, jewelry, and a car, her husband's family remained dissatisfied. They relentlessly sought an additional 2.5 million rupees and a Scorpio car. Sonal's family refused to meet these further demands.

Following this refusal, Sonal's in-laws expelled her from the home, subjecting her to severe mental and physical abuse. The community organized a meeting to address the issue, resulting in Sonal returning to her in-laws. During this time, she was allegedly injected with the HIV virus, reportedly attempted to be killed. Her deteriorating health led her parents to admit her to a hospital, where it was confirmed she tested positive for HIV.

The SHO reported that Sonal's parents accused her in-laws of administering risky medications and injecting HIV into her, posing a life-threatening risk. Subsequently, the victims turned to the court for justice. On February 10, following the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate's order, a case was registered on February 11 at the Gangoh police station against Sonal's husband, brother-in-law, and two others. The investigation is underway.
