Family Accuses Chandan Verma

The brutal slaying of the teacher’s family has left the relatives in Amethi’s Shivratanganj district in deep shock. As the four deceased bodies arrived at the village in Rae Bareli’s Gadaganj post-mortem, an uproar ensued. The distraught family pleaded for the harshest punishment for those guilty of this crime.

The bereaved mother of Poonam Bharti, the wife of slain teacher Sunil, accused, 'Chandan Verma was continuously harassing my daughter. After filing a case on August 18, he threatened not only my daughter Poonam but also her parents and Sunil. He pressured her to compromise, or he would resort to unimaginable actions. Chandan sent her obscene photos, using them to blackmail and harass her.'

Chandan’s Empty Magazine Found at Scene

According to police sources, the empty magazine retrieved from the scene belonged to Chandan Verma's pistol. Multiple rounds were fired in the massacre of four individuals, as evidenced by the shells recovered at the spot. Autopsy reports reveal the teacher sustained one bullet wound, while his wife was struck twice. Both daughters were each hit by a bullet.

Chandan Verma has a Criminal Record

The wife of the deceased, Sunil Kumar, victim Poonam Bharti had previously filed a lawsuit against Chandan Verma in Rae Bareli for assault, harassment, and violations under the SC-ST Act.
