In Bihar, on Friday, ED officials interrogated the victimized woman in the ongoing case against IAS officer Sanjeev Hans and former MLA Gulab Yadav. The woman confirmed to Aaj Tak that she was summoned for questioning. Queries revolved around monetary transactions, which she addressed. She assured continuous cooperation with investigating agencies and expressed readiness for further visits if required, requesting a DNA test for her son.
IAS officer Hans, part of the 1997 batch, first drew public attention due to gang-rape allegations against him and former RJD MLA Gulab Yadav. The ED launched a probe based on Patna SSP Rajeev Mishra’s report, which underlined significant financial transactions.
Aaj Tak reviewed the supervision report submitted by Patna SSP Rajeev Mishra on April 17, 2023. The report explicitly involves gang-rape accusations by the victim against the IAS officer and Gulab Yadav. It calls for tracing the sources of funds involved.
The supervision report also reveals that Hans allegedly bought a resort for 950 million INR in Chandigarh under the name Suresh Prasad Singhla, prompting ED raids on the offices of his construction firm.
Accusations of criminal sexual harassment and blackmail involving obscene videos add to the charges against the suspects as outlined in Patna SSP's supervision report. It states that after the sexual assault, the victim underwent an abortion. The report claims a clear link between IAS Sanjeev Hans and the case.
Notably, following ED's actions, the Bihar government relieved the controversial IAS officer Sanjeev Hans of his duties on Thursday, issuing a notification from the state's General Administration Department.
Meanwhile, the RJD accused the state government of delays in action and providing shelter to tainted officials. In a direct critique, RJD spokesperson Mrityunjay Tiwari questioned the delayed governmental response, demanding transparent scrutiny of the governmental procedures in place.
