An astonishing case has surfaced from Bhadohi in Uttar Pradesh, where a young man devised a fake kidnapping story to dodge repaying a loan of Rs 5 lakh. To further mislead, he delivered false information to his family members. On receiving the family's complaint, the police commenced an investigation, ultimately apprehending the young man from Maharashtra.
According to the police, Pradeep Chauhan, a 'Bank Mitra' residing in the Bhala area of Chauri Thana, vanished on March 7. Although he left for Varanasi, he failed to return. Subsequently, his family received a message on WhatsApp stating his abduction along with a ransom demand.
'Messaged Family Using a Different SIM'
Bhadohi SP Abhimanyu Manglik disclosed that the young man confessed during interrogation that he, Bank Mitra Pradeep, faced a Rs 5 lakh loan from a finance company. To evade repayment, he invented a story of his kidnapping. His family then informed the police. Engaged in the investigation, the Crime Branch and local police combed through CCTV footage from Banaras Railway Station. They found that the young man disembarked from a train, visited a mobile shop, procured another SIM card, and used its internet to issue deceitful messages about his abduction to his family.
Following this, he traveled to Pune. Tracking the mobile number's location to Pune, the police arrived and took the 'Bank Mitra' along, charging him with misleading his family and the police by furnishing false information. The accused was presented in court.
