Fans eagerly await Bollywood star Kartik Aaryan's films, especially when it comes to his romantic roles that spike excitement. However, developments that might baffle fans, leaving them uncertain whether to buzz with anticipation or not, have surfaced.
An announcement was made about a film directed by Anurag Basu starring Kartik, which true fans would recognize as 'Aashiqui 3'. But now, T-Series has clarified with an official statement that the film they are producing is not part of the 'Aashiqui' franchise, hinting at possible behind-the-scenes drama among the filmmakers.
Makers of 'Aashiqui 3' Part Ways
On September 5, 2022, Kartik Aaryan announced his new project 'Aashiqui 3' on social media. The announcement video featured Arijit Singh's voiceover singing 'Ab Tere Bin Ji Lenge Hum', from the original 'Aashiqui' movie.
No actress was announced for the film, but Anurag Basu was confirmed as the director. Kartik's Instagram post mentioned 'My first film with Basu Da', and the post is still available, tagging T-Series's Bhushan Kumar and producer Mukesh Bhatt's Vishesh Films.
Reports published both producers' statements. Mukesh Bhatt recalled the nervousness before the release of 'Aashiqui' in August 1990 and the records it broke the following day. He promised, 'Together with Bhushan (Kumar), Pritam, Anurag, and the nation's heartbeat Kartik Aaryan, love will be celebrated like never before.'
Bhushan expressed excitement about announcing 'Aashiqui 3' with Mukesh Ji, directed by his all-time favorite Dada Anurag Basu. 'This film will bring a fresh side while maintaining its original essence!' But now, the plans have surprisingly flipped.
The New Announcement Emerges
T-Series has released a new official statement denying involvement in 'Aashiqui 3's production or development. It noted that whenever work on 'Aashiqui 3' begins, both T-Series and Vishesh Films/Mukesh Bhatt, the joint owners of the franchise, will co-produce it, dispelling rumors that T-Series was repurposing 'Aashiqui 3' under a different title. The statement added that the proposed film directed by Anurag Basu is neither 'Aashiqui 3' nor part of the 'Aashiqui' franchise.
The bottom line is that while Kartik Aaryan will be working on a film under Anurag Basu's direction, it is not 'Aashiqui 3' or related to that franchise. Instead, it is a different movie altogether, produced solely by T-Series.
There were speculations about Tara Sutaria, Tripti Dimri, and Jennifer Winget being cast alongside Kartik Aaryan in 'Aashiqui 3', but Mukesh Bhatt denied these. Now, the intriguing question remains - if 'Aashiqui 3' wasn't being made, for which film did Mukesh Bhatt refute the actress casting? And if this relates to 'Aashiqui 3' that has now transformed into a different project, will 'Aashiqui 3' ever be revived? Perhaps, only time will tell!
