Bollywood actress and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has been embroiled in constant controversy since the release of the trailer for her film 'Emergency'. Protests have erupted in Punjab, calling for a ban on the film. 'Emergency' faces accusations of depicting the Sikh community negatively, which is considered 'insulting' to their image.

Now, the Delhi unit of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has also launched a campaign against Kangana's 'Emergency'. The president of the party's Delhi unit has sent a notice to the Censor Board and Kangana's production house regarding the film.

Shiromani Akali Dal Against Kangana's Film

The Delhi unit of Shiromani Akali Dal stated in a notice that Kangana Ranaut is 'notorious for anti-Sikh rhetoric' and has chosen the subject 'Emergency' to target the Sikh community.

According to reports, the notice further stated, 'The film's trailer presents incorrect historical facts, which not only misrepresent the Sikh community but also promote hatred and social discord. Such portrayals are misleading and harmful to the social fabric of Punjab and the whole country.'

The notice calls on the Censor Board and its chairman to immediately revoke the film's censor certification and block its release. The Delhi unit of Shiromani Akali Dal also mentioned that the film might increase community disputes and spread misinformation.

Increasing Controversies Surrounding 'Emergency'

Protests had already erupted in Bathinda, Punjab after the trailer's release. Protesters even burned an effigy of Kangana. Recently, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) also sent a notice to the film's makers, demanding a ban from the government.

In Telangana, a 18-member delegation of the Telangana Sikh Society, led by former IPS officer Tejdeep Kaur, met with government advisor Mohammad Ali Shabbir at the Secretariat and demanded a ban on the screening of 'Emergency'. The delegation submitted a representation expressing their deep concerns over the film's portrayal of the Sikh community.

Shabbir stated that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has assured Sikh community leaders that the state government is seeking legal counsel and is considering banning Kangana Ranaut's film 'Emergency'.
