DMK MP A. Raja recently stirred up political controversy by calling Union Home Minister Amit Shah an 'idiot' during a speech. Raja's comment was in response to Shah's recent assertion that, following its victories in other states, the BJP aims to establish a foothold in Tamil Nadu. The BJP leaders of Tamil Nadu sharply criticized the DMK MP's remarks.

Addressing a public rally, Raja stated, 'Amit Shah came to Madurai. He said that the BJP had secured victories in Delhi, Haryana, and Maharashtra and that Tamil Nadu is next. Idiot, idiot. Arvind Kejriwal is the singular leader of his political party in Delhi. He triumphed over a single contender in Haryana and Maharashtra. Muthuvel Karunanidhi Stalin is not alone, for he is backed by the philosophies of Periyar, Anna, Karunanidhi, and the Dravidian ideology.'

Raja claimed that the BJP is uneasy about the Dravidian ideology tradition. He said, 'You are anxious to halt the Dravidian philosophy, as it opposes your agenda of one language, one nation, and one religion. How can all of these be unified?' BJP spokesperson Narayanan Tirupati condemned A. Raja's statement and fiercely retaliated. Tirupati said, 'Former minister and idiot A. Raja called Amit Shah stupid and made offensive remarks. Anyone who criticizes India’s Home Minister in such a manner can only be an idiot.'

BJP spokesperson Narayanan Tirupati targeted A. Raja, asserting that only a fool and a simpleton would use such language out of desperation for not holding central power and fear of losing state power in the upcoming Tamil Nadu assembly elections. Amit Shah had said in his speech that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance would form the government in Tamil Nadu. The Union Home Minister stated in Madurai, 'In 2026, the BJP-AIADMK alliance's NDA government will form here in Tamil Nadu. I reside in Delhi, but my ears are always attuned to Tamil Nadu. MK Stalin says Amit Shah cannot defeat the DMK. He is correct. Not me, but the people of Tamil Nadu will defeat you.'
