Prime Minister Narendra Modi's meditative retreat at Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanyakumari is currently underway. The Prime Minister commenced his meditation on Thursday evening at around 6:45 PM, which will continue until the evening of June 1st. Prime Minister Modi meditates on the very rock where Vivekananda had once meditated.
During the 45-hour meditation, Prime Minister Modi will only consume liquid foods, specifically partaking coconut water and grape juice. According to sources, he will also observe a vow of silence throughout and remain within the meditation chamber.
For Prime Minister Modi's 45-hour stay at Vivekananda Rock Memorial, extensive arrangements have been made, including stringent security measures. The beach will be closed to tourists until Saturday, and private boats are prohibited from operating. Around 2000 police personnel will be deployed in this southernmost district of the country, and various security agencies will maintain a vigilant watch during the Prime Minister's program.

Where Vivekananda Found His Purpose
Kanyakumari, the southernmost tip of India, is the confluence of India's eastern and western coastal lines and the waters of the Indian Ocean, the Bay of Bengal, and the Arabian Sea. Influenced by Vivekananda, the Prime Minister reached this historic spot on Thursday evening after concluding over 70 days of election campaigning.

Prime Minister Modi traveled from Trivandrum to Kanyakumari, a distance of 97 km, by helicopter. Landing a mere 300 meters away from the Vivekananda Mandapam, he directly visited the Bhagavathi Amman Temple before heading to the Rock Memorial for meditation. This temple is cited in ancient scriptures.

Special Devotions at the Temple
It is believed that the idol of the goddess Kanyakumari was installed here around 3000 years ago by the sage Parasurama. Priests mentioned that this was the first time a Prime Minister paid a visit to the deity. Adorned in a dhoti and a white shawl, Modi offered his prayers and circumambulated the sanctum sanctorum. The priests conducted a special Aarti and presented him with temple offerings, including a shawl and a framed image of the temple's deity.
