Wing Commander Vyomika Singh has emerged as a formidable pillar of Indian security. Her tales of struggle and dedication echo throughout the nation. In an exclusive conversation with Aajtak, her parents shared numerous intriguing and inspiring anecdotes from her childhood.
Vyomika Singh's parents, RS Nim and Karuna Singh, feel proud of their daughter's struggles and achievements. They recount that from the time their daughter was in the tenth grade, she aspired to be a pilot, though initially, she kept it a secret from them.
Her parents say Vyomika never behaved like an ordinary child. She was always engaged in various activities—be it sports, debates, or other competitions. She excelled in every field, whether at school or other areas.
Her father recalls that she was truly different from other children. In school, she consistently placed first, and she actively participated in sporting events. Once, she participated in a market competition, competing against boys and winning a challenge. As a result, she was awarded 20,800 rupees.
Despite societal norms, Vyomika fearlessly participated in a public contest, significantly boosting her confidence.

Vyomika was always filled with confidence and resilience. Once, while climbing stairs and whistling, her mother chided her, suggesting girls shouldn't behave that way. Vyomika boldly questioned, ‘Why differentiate between boys and girls? Girls can do whatever they want.’ This mindset and confidence were her keys to success.
Another instance shared by her parents was the pride with which they preserved every award Vyomika won. These awards became family treasures. When she decided to join the Air Force, she initially kept it a secret from her mother, first discussing it with her father, asking him,
